Hacking of Yahoo accounts, is no longer a shocking news. But the company has been trying to safeguard its accounts since the hacking attacks broke out. Yahoo said that it was notifying all the users whose account have been hacked because of forged cookies, even though their password was safe.
The soon to be sold company, Yahoo, acknowledged that the hack attacks might be because of the forged cookies in the website. These notifications are in response to a record breach disclosed last year which affected nearly one billion users.
A Yahoo spokesman said that the company is in the process of notifying all the affected users and has invalidated forged cookies. The company also said that, “As we have previously disclosed our outside forensic experts have been investigating the creation of forged cookies that could have enabled an intruder to access the user’s account without a password. The investigation has identified user accounts for which we believe forges cookies were taken or used.”
There have been many more previous hack attacks in 2k14 which affected over a 500 million users and also in 2k13 affecting more than a billion users.
The company which was once the fore runners of the internet is soon to sell its operating part to Verizon, a telecom giant.
