Google Now Launcher, an intelligent personal assistant, developed by google, is set to walk its way out of play store, later this march after a three year journey, since 2014. It is available for both Android and iOS.  It is said that the app will be available for pixel smartphones.

Google says that the Google Now Launcher will be unpublished from Google Play store, but the people who have already installed Google Now Launcher app will receive the updates. The conclusion is that the major updates of the app will be lessened except for a few updates. – source from an email to GMS.

The e-mail also states that, the Launcher will also be removed from the Google Mobile Services (GMS), which are used to develop Android devices by OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers).

The OEMs can instead use Google Search Services library, which is now available after testing. The manufacturers can use Launcher 3 from Android Open Source Project (AOSP), to replace the Google Now Launcher. Google has not yet planed anything for mobile phones such as Nexas.

Alternatives such as Nova Launcher and Go launcher can be used. Pixel Launcher will be available only for Pixel smartphones.
