One of the most trusted navigation apps in the world- Google maps, has popularized “parking difficulty feature”. This is available for android. Lamentably this feature is available only in the United States and that too in particular regions alone.
Google says, when you are on the go, the parking difficulty feature can lead to a good parking spot or at least show what kind of parking crisis one should be prepared for.
The parking difficulty icon is symbolized as “P” next to travel duration. After the icon is selected the map shows the availability of free parking spots in the region you want to park your vehicle. There availability ranges from limited, medium and easy. This gets more interesting, the color of the icon changes according to the availability of parking spots that is it remains red when the parking is limited and changes to blue if medium respectively.
This is how it works – get directions for your destination and then select the parking difficulty option. That’s all you’ve gotta do, then the parking availability will be displayed based on the historical parking data.
The areas in which the parking difficulty option is ready and able in the US are San Francisco, Seattle, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Diego, St. Louis, Tampa, Washington, DC, Cleveland, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, Phoenix etc,.
